Resource Management Program
The resource management function encompasses a broad range of activities all centered on the processes of operations and resource monitoring.
Short rotation plantations are intensively managed and consequently, demand far higher levels of accurate, integrated information available to managers for immediate action.
To achieve this, the Resource Management Program is tasked to maintain:
- An accurate and current picture of the nature and extent of land use within the PFZ.
- A audit process that surveys and verifies the quality and quantity of all reported operations.
- A record of the productivity of the plantation stands.
Modern technologies such as GPS, GIS, remote sensing and specialist software applications are combined with aerial photography and ground surveys in continuous flow of information and database updates.
Currently, all field-work takes place against a development framework defined in an online Plantation Information Management System. This system provides managers and other stakeholders with ready access to the state of the resource and operations.
