INSTRUCTIONS
FOR SUBMITTING ABSTRACTS
Submit a single MS-Word attachment by December 1,
2006
to the Conference Committee, c/o Rob Stuebing (callforpapers@plantedforestsproject.com).
Entitle your attachment with the author’s last name and an abbreviated abstract
title (for example, “Chey, Acacia arthropods”)
Please provide the following details:

- 1st Author Phone/Fax
- 1st Author E-Mail
- Title
- Presentation Type: Paper or Poster
Please follow guidelines below
- The abstract
must be in 9 point Times New Roman. Single
space all typing.

Title: Capitalize first letter of the first word, then only proper
and scientific names as customary. Leave one full
blank line between title and abstract text.
- Use one paragraph for entire text. Do not put any reference
citations in the abstract. Justify both left and right margins.
- Single space
all typing. Put taxonomic names in italics.
NOTE: All oral presentations must be
on PowerPoint or PowerPoint compatible software. Slide projectors will not be available.
Poster allocation is 50cm x 75cm
and space is limited, so that approved posters will
be provided space on a first come, first served basis. Bring your own pins or velcro.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR SUBMITTING ORAL PRESENTATIONS
All oral presentations will be done
using Microsoft PowerPoint. Presenters should bring a backup copy as well as a backup
consisting of overheads.
Complete and final presentations should be submitted by Email and on
CD to the BCTPF Committee by December 1 2006. The first author’s name and truncated
title should be written on the upper surface of the CD using an indelible marker.
Each author should submit all source files (text and figures) needed to make the
paper.

The required method of final submission for the conference
is on a CD together with a hard copy. Contributed papers may be up to 12 pages long
and invited papers up to 20 pages. Since the proceedings will also be published
in paper form, it is necessary to maintain these limits.
MANUSCRIPTS
General Layout
Paper manuscripts should be prepared for one side of the paper and have:
- Either
A4 (21.0cm X 29.7 cm; 8.27in X 11.69in) or US letter size (21.6cm X 27.9cm; 8.5in
X 11.0in)
- Single spaced text only.
Fonts
In order to be compatible with
the Adobe Acrobat Distiller, use only Times New Roman (in roman, bold or italic),
symbol and Zapf Dingbats. All contributions should use 10pt font for the normal
text.
Title
The title should use 14pt bold uppercase letters and be centred on the
page. The names of the authors and their organisation/affiliation and mailing address
should be in 12pt upper and lower case letters.
Section Headings
Section headings
should numbered, use 12pt bold uppercase letters and be centred in the column.
Figures
and Tables
Place figures and tables as close to the place of their mention as possible.
Lettering in figures and tables should be large enough to reproduce clearly, using
only the approved fonts. All figures and tables must be given sequential numbers
(1, 2, 3, etc.) and have a caption placed below the figure or above the table being
described.
References
All bibliographical references should be numbered and listed
at the end of the paper in a section called "REFERENCES''. Use the style demonstrated
by the samples below:

POSTERS

Those
who wish to contribute in the poster sessions should indicate their intention in
the Registration Form
Author(s) should submit an advanced draft abstract of the
poster to the Conference Secretariat before December
1 2006.
The presentation
must consist of unpublished results.
Guidelines for poster presenters:
In preparing
posters authors should conform to the following guidelines:
- Size : The dimension
of poster space will be about 50 cm wide and 75 cm high. For putting up the poster,
velcro tape/double sided tape is allowed. If your poster is made up of several elements,
the minimum size of an individual element is A3 (420x297mm)
- Author name (s): Name
and designation of all author(s) should be given. Include contact data (address,
phone, fax, email address).
- Title: Poster title should be in UPPERCASE, placed
at the top of the display space. The font style and size of the title should be
preferably Times New Roman and respectively.
- Presentation in English is preferred,
though Bahasa Malaysia may also be used. Be brief and clear. Keep all lines of text
short and choose a sufficiently large, readable font. Use small amounts of text,
and large illustrations.
- Tables, illustrations and figures must be drawn heavily
and clearly, so that all can be readable from a distance of 1.5 metres
- Projectors
cannot be used in the poster display areas
- Author(s) should prepare all materials
needed for presentation in advance and ensure that the poster is ready for viewing
one hour before the poster session begins.
- Author(s) must be present in front
of their posters at the scheduled time to answer questions and give further information.
All posters should be promptly removed at the end of the allotted display period/time.
